F. Meckstroth Rites Friday at Garner Church

Garner - Funeral services for Fred Meckstroth, 77, will be held at the First Methodist Church in Garner at 2 p.m. Friday, the Rev. S. Willard Cunningham officiating. Interment will be in the Concord Township Cemetery. He died at the Good Samaritan Home in Mason City Tuesday. He had been in failing health for sometime and entered the nursing home June 20, 1951. For the past two months he was confined to his bed.

Mr. Meckstroth was born at New Knoxville, O., July 5, 1876, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Meckstroth. He came to the Garner vicinity in 1900 and was engaged in the carpenter and builder trade.

In 1913 he was married to Mrs. Lydia Stille who died in February, 1930. In 1939 he was married to Mrs. Tena Hartman (a cousin of his first wife) of Steamboat Rock. The second Mrs. Meckstroth died about five years ago.

Survivors are the following step-children: Roy, Earl, Chet and Cecil Stille of Garner; Mrs. Clarence Nippen of Steamboat Rock; Mrs. Roy Glaze, Ackley; Orlo Hartman of Radcliffe; Williard Hartman of Iowa Falls; Mrs. Don Zatechka of Marshalltown; Kenneth Hartman of Waterloo, and Mrs. John Howard of Waterloo. Three brothers, William of Garner; Wesley of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and Dan of Cleveland, O., and one sister, Mrs, Levi Newman of Bremen O.
