Mrs. Carel Shultz To Be Buried Here
Mrs. Carel Shultz died at Mercy hospital, Mason City, on Monday following an illness of two weeks in which she had surgery. Funeral rites will be held at McCauley & Sons Funeral Home in Mason City at 1:30 p.m. August 10th with Rev. Gustafson, of the Methodist church, officiating. The body will be brought to Britt for burial in Evergreen cemetery, where there will be graveside services.
Hattie Belle Smith was born at Flanagan, Illinois, on June 2, 1903, a daughter to Peter and Eliza Smith. She grew up on an Erin township farm and moved to Britt with her parents about 1920.
Her marriage to Carel Shultz took place at Mason City on June 2, 1923. The family live at Britt, Ventura and Mason City during the years since. Born to the Schultz were two sons Robert Carelton and James Lee, both of whom, with their father mourn a true and loving wife and mother. Surviving also is a grandson, Steven Shultz.
Mrs. Shultz was a member of the Methodist church at Mason City, the W.S.C.S., of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Rebekahs, the Woodmen and the Moose lodges and was very active in all organizations, as long as her health permitted.
