Ross Kent, Britt, Dies

Britt - Ross Kent, 85, a farmer businessman and philanthropist who lived west of Britt, died early Wednesday at his home. He had been in poor health.

Kent and his brother, the late Jim Kent, had been instrumental in financing the Hancock County Memorial Hospital here. They gave nearly $50,000 for the hospital, which was sponsored by the American Legion here.

They established the Farmers Industrial Union which later became a co-operative elevator. Ross Kent was a former vice president of the First State Bank at Britt and was member of the Methodist Church.

He is survived by a nephew, Vern Carrithers, Peoria, Ill., two nieces, Eliza Smith and Eva Quinlin, Wichita, Kan.

Funeral services are pending at the Boughton Funeral Home here.
