Rites Incomplete for M. Johnson, Woden Farmer
Woden - Funeral services are incomplete for Merle W. Johnson, 47, who farmed near here. He died Tuesday afternoon at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. He had been ill for the past eight months. Death was caused by cancer.
He was born Dec. 15, 1909, at Manson, the son of Wilbur and Olive Fitzgerald Johnson. On Aug. 18, 1945, he was married to Pearl Attig. Mr. Johnson was a veteran of World War II and enlisted in the Army on Feb. 29, 1944. He served in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He was a member of the American Legion at Woden and the Veterans of Foreign Wars at Britt. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Connie; three sons, Raymond, 10; Wilbur, 8, and Eugene, 4; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Johnson, Britt, and a sister, Mrs, John (Eleanor) Ostercamp, Britt.
The Boughton Funeral Home, Britt, is in charge of arrangements.
