Retired Farmer Dies at Britt; Rites Tuesday
Britt - Henry E. Egts, 62, a retired farmer, died Friday at the Hancock Memorial Hospital here following a long illness.
Born in Sandel, Oldenburg, Germany, he served with the German army during World War I and was married in Germany to Gretchen Hinrichs, April 29, 1920. They came to the U.S. in 1924 and had farmed near Britt since 1937. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and has been on the board of the Lutheran Brotherhood here.
Surviving are his wife, two children, Mrs. Sylvester Zrostlik, Britt and Herbert, Washburn, Iowa; nine grandchildren, a brother Ernest and a sister, Mrs. John Casses, in Germany.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church, Britt, preceded by a prayer service for the immediate family at the Boughton Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul W. Adix will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Britt.
