Al Emerson who for several years operated a shoe repair shop in Garner, is to be buried this afternoon at Concord cemetery.
About two weeks ago, Mr. Emerson was taken seriously ill. Soon after becoming indisposed, he suffered a paralytic stroke, and was then taken to Irish hospital, Forest City. He remained at the Forest City hospital but a short time, after which he was taken to the state hospital at Cherokee. His stay at the state hospital covered not more than a week.
Prior to coming to Garner, Mr. Emerson operated shoe repair shops in several towns. For a great many years he worked for Frank Gruetzmacher of Klemme, as his harness and shoe repairman. Mr. Emerson had reached the ripe old age of 82 years, but he looked much younger.
Mr. Emerson has but one living relative so far as we have been able to learn, Mrs. Aravella Kathryn Gomes of Mason City, is a daughter. His former wife and mother of Mrs. Gomes, is now Mrs. C. A. Fisher of Mason City.
