Rites held Tuesday for Mrs. Marlor Smith
Funeral services for Mrs. Marlor J. (Lucy) Smith, 68, who died suddenly Dec. 26 [1970] at the home of her daughter Mrs. Stephan Jensen following a prolonged illness, were held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist church in Forest City. The Rev. Ronald D. Bergman and the Rev. B. A. Rust of Britt officiated and burial was in Madison cemetery.
Born Jan. 17, 1902, in Homer, Georgia, to John Manly and Misouria Ellen (Roe) Caudell, she was married to George W. Brock Mar. 24, 1918, in Georgia. Following the death of Mr. Brock in 1928, she was married to Marlor Smith in South Carolina, Mar. 11, 1929.
For the past five years she has made her home in Forest City. Prior to that for 20 years she lived west of Leland and for 7 years before that on a farm west of Crystal Lake, to which she came in 1937 from South Carolina.
Survivor are four sons, Hanford Brock of Britt, Choen Brock of Leland, Edwin Smith of Thompson, Fred H. Smith of Forest City; three daughters–all of whom are Smiths–Mrs. Robert (Coleen) Devin of Longmont, Colo., Mrs. Bob (Zudavee) Holland of Forest City, and Mrs. Stephan (Madilene) Jensen of Forest City; one brother, William Ginn of Britt; two sisters, Mrs. Belle Cash of Alto, Ga., and Mrs. Reba Wells of Jacksonville, Fla.; 27 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
She was pre-deceased by one son; two daughters, one granddaughter, her parents, her first husband, two brothers and one sister.
Pallbearers, all of whom were grandsons, were Michael Brock, Dennis Brock, Rickie Brock, Larry Devin, Vance Holland and Randy Smith.
Organist was Mrs. Wallace Tweeten and soloist, Mrs. Roy E. Olson.
