THE FAMILY OF GEORGE A. STILLE

A FINAL FAREWELL TO GRANDPA GEORGE

GEORGE STILLE WAS BORN SOME 88 YEARS AGO,
IN HIS LIFETIME, MANY PEOPLE HE DID COME TO KNOW.
ALMOST NINE DECADES HAVE COME TO PASS,
HIS LIFETIME ON THIS EARTH WILL EVER LAST.
FOR 68 YEARS OF HIS LIFE,
HE WAS MARRIED TO INA, HIS WIFE.
FIVE KIDS THEY RAISED; WHO SIMPLY CALLED HIM "DAD,"
HE WAS THE BEST THING
THOSE KIDS COULD HAVE EVER HAD.
I HAVE MANY MEMORIES OF MY YOUNGER DAYS,
WHEN GRANDPA TAUGHT ME MANY OF HIS WAYS.
HOW TO GO FISHING AND BAIT A HOOK.
OR HOW IMPORTANT IT WAS TO READ A BOOK.
I REMEMBER GEORGE AND INA GOING CAMPING A LOT,
HOW THEY WOULD GO TO TEXAS,
WHERE SOMETIMES IT GETS HOT.
THEY USED TO LET US USE THE CAMPER ONCE IN AWHILE,
YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN MY BROTHER AND ME SMILE.
I REMEMBER GOING TO VISIT ALMOST EVERY SUNDAY,
AND TAKING MY TOY TRUCKS ALONG TO PLAY.
GRANDMA ALWAYS HAD SUGAR COOKIES THERE TO EAT,
THE TASTE OF THOSE COOKIES HAS YET TO BE BEAT.
GEORGE WAS A HUSBAND, FATHER, AND FRIEND,
EVEN RIGHT TO THE VERY END.
ALTHOUGH HE COULDN'T REALLY HEAR OR SEE,
HE STILL WAS "GRANDPA" TO ME.
BY THE POWER OF THE ALMIGHTY ABOVE,
GOD SHOWED GEORGE HIS LOVE.
NOW THE LORD HAS TAKEN GEORGE BY THE HAND,
AND SHOWED HIM TO THE PROMISED LAND.
