Gertrude Esther Stille the daughter of J. J. and Clara Louise (Gast) Stille was born April 8, 1900, on a farm west of Klemme. She was baptized at the home of her parents. She attended Liberty Country School and was united in marriage to Elmer Schaefer on October 31, 1917. She attended the Liberty Church and later the United Methodist Church in Klemme. After Elmer Schaefer died in 1957, she was united in marriage to Elmer Beier on February 14, 1967. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and UMW in Klemme. She enjoyed working on 500 piece puzzles, and growing plants and flowers.

Gertrude died on Tuesday, September 4, 2001, age the age of 101 years, 4 months and 27 days.

She is survived by a son, Wavel Schaefer and his wife, Darlene of Kanawha, IA; daughter-in-law, Betty Neuberger of Klemme, IA; step-children, Mrs. Eugene (Carmen) Beier in California, LaVonne Simon of Winterset, IA; Beverly Thorson of Klemme, IA; Shirley (Douglas) Doolittle of Webster City, IA; Robert (Donna) Beier of Pleasantville IA; Gordon (Jane) Beier of Klemme, IA; Ronald Beier in Minnesota, Mary (Maynard) Olson of Mason City, IA; Janis (Wayne) Smith of Webster City, IA; Joann (Roger) Hansen of Kanawha, IA; James Beier in Pennsylvania, Roger (Linda) Beier of Mason City, IA. Brothers, Virgil Stille and his wife, Grace of Kanawha, IA; George Stille and his wife, Ina of Garner, IA; sisters, Fern Carlson of Clear Lake, IA; Lucille Bridges and her husband, Cecil of Thornton, IA; sister-in-law, Minnie Stille of Thornton, IA; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husbands, Elmer Schaefer and Elmer Beier; children, Velda Blank and Melvin (Rusty) Schaefer, step-son, Eugene Beier, brothers, Quentin Stille and Kermit Stille.
