Ethel Mildred Meyer, the daughter of Arthur (A.J.) and Emma (Ludeke) Schoenwetter, was born May 10, 1913 in Des Moines, IA. She attended and graduated from Klemme High School in 1932. On March 21, 1933, she was married to Herman Meyer in Galena, IL. They farmed west of Klemme all of their married life.

After Herman's death in 1984, Ethel continued to live on the farm until 1994, when she moved to Garner. Due to ill health she moved to Concord Care Center

on June 17, 2002. She enjoyed her roommate, Dona Greiman as well as all of the activities at Concord Care Center. Herman and Ethel spent many winters in Texas. She also had traveled throughout the United States, including Alaska. Her hobbies included crocheting, quilting, music and enjoying her grandchildren. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Klemme, U.M.W., the South Liberty Homemaker's Club and the Klemme Senior Citizens.

Ethel is survived by her three children, Lorraine Buckley of Forest City, Herman (Richard) Meyer and his wife, Patricia, of Cedar Rapids and Jean Hansen and her husband, Dennis, of Whiteville, NC; eleven grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Meyer on September 15, 1984; a son, Alvin Meyer on April 14, 1990; a son-in-law, Billy Buckley on July 24, 1999; a granddaughter, Debbie Sue Meyer in 1963; and her parents.
