Fr. John W. HemannEmma Teresa Jakoubek, the daughter of Anton James and Elizabeth (Brcka) Hejlik was born March 29, 1911 on a farm west of Garner. She attended the rural schools of Garfield Township and Garner High School. On November 20, 1934, she was married to William Paul Jakoubek at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan. They farmed southeast of Duncan. In 1979, they retired from farming and moved into Garner. On October 7, 1998, she moved to Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake. Emma was well known for the many quilts she made as well as needlework and crocheting. She enjoyed her family, cooking, canning and reading. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and Rosary Society.
She is survived by her three children, Gene Jakoubek and his wife, Dorene, of Garner, Daryl Jakoubek and his wife, Myrna, of Floyd and Sheryl Mudge and her husband, Ron, of Bondurant; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Jakoubek, November 25, 1999; twin granddaughters, Robin and Renee Jakoubek; her parents and 3 sisters, Rose Urich, Esther Hejlik and Helen Hejlik.
