BRITT — Funeral services are pending at the Boughton Cataldo Funeral Home in Britt for Clyde Johnson, 70, Britt, who died Monday at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Johnson was a Britt farmer.

C. W. Johnson Dies; Lifelong Britt Resident

Services for Clyde W. Johnson, 70, lifetime resident of the Britt Community, will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the United Methodist Church. Rev. Howard Eldrenkamp will officiate. Mr. Johnson will be buried in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation is at the Boughton-Cataldo Funeral Home and will be until noon Thursday.

Ushers will be Gilbert Guenther and C. C. Horstman. Flowers are to be arranged by Mrs. Alfred Champion and Mrs. Elmer Hrubes.

The organist will be Mrs. Ralph Hodson and the soloist Charles McLaughlin. Casket bearers are John Fank, Robert Anderson, Neil Kahl, Charles Brooks, Clifford Schaper and Don Gelner.

Clyde William Johnson, son of John H. and Anna M. (Baker) Johnson, was born July 29, 1905 near Britt in Orthel Township. In infancy he received baptism and confirmation at a tender age. He, with his family, are members of the Methodist Church.

On November 26, 1934 he was united in marriage to Marcella Mulert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Muleert. Their wedding took place in Garner. The couple established their home on a farm near Britt. The home was blessed with 3 sons and 3 daughters, Richard, Clyde, Rose, Donna, Shirley and James.

Mr. Johnson was avid fisherman and gardener. Following retirement from the farm, he has been employed for several years by Charles McLaughlin. For the past 2 years, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson have resided in their home on South Main Avenue.

Last Wednesday, he was afflicted with a heart attack. Early Monday he slept away at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital.

He is survived by his wife Marcella, his children, Richard and his wife, the former Diane Ferris, Ft. Dodge; Clyde and his wife, the former Myrleen Jones, Clear Lake; Rose and her husband, Neil Santee, and Donna and her husband, Larry Cline, both Mason City; Shirley and her husband, Ronald Ostendorf, Clear Lake and James and his wife, the former Carolyn Morik, Des Moines. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren, 4 brothers; Herbert and Frank Johnson, Britt; Homer Johnson, Mason City and Gilbert Johnson, Montrose, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Survivors include his wife, Marcella; three sons, Richard, Fort Dodge; Clyde, Clear Lake, and James, Des Moines; three daughters, Mrs. Neal (Rose) Santee and Mrs. Larry (Donna) Kline, both of Mason City, and Mrs. Ronald (Shirley) Ostendorf, Clear Lake; 24 grandchildren; four brothers, Herbert and Frank, both of Britt; Homer, Mason City, and Gilbert, Montrose.
