Funeral services were held Tuesday May 9, 1995 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Manly, for Helen V. Black, 60 of Manly. Reverend Sara Beth Aker officated and burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Britt. She died Friday, May 5, 1995 at Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City.

She was born August 27, 1925 in Britt a daughter of Julius and Lilly(Marek) Bartek. She received her education in the Britt Community School system, graduating from Britt High School.

She married Denny Black in 1955 in Britt.

Local survivors include a son, Gregory Black and his wife, Mary of St. Ansgar.
