Dougherty- Grace A. Larson 97, of Dougherty, died Monday ( April 1, 1996), at the Sheffield Care Center following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the West Fork United Methodist Church, rural Sheffield, with the Rev. Edward Clevenger officiating. Burial will be in Madison Township Cemetery, Forest City.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, and one hour prior to service on Friday at the church.
Memorials may be given to the West Fork United Methodist Church of Hospice of North Iowa.
Grace A. Larson was born June 4, 1908, in Woden, the daughter of Peter D. and Mary (Barth) Etzen. Grace received her education at Hayfield.
She married Antone “Tony” Larson on Dec. 8, 1928, at the Britt Parsonage in Britt.
Grace and Antone moved to a farm near Dougherty in 1936 where they farmed for many years.
Grace was a member of the West Fork United Methodist Church, Sheffield; past president of the Senior Citizens of Dougherty and the Dougherty Domestic Club.
Grace was a homemaker, a loving and beloved mother and grandmother. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include four daughters, Jeri Noss and her husband, Ed, of Dougherty; Marilyn Hasapopoulus and her husband, Sam, of Clear Lake; Sharon Lillibridge and her husband Gene, of Rockwell, and Rose Mary Funke and her husband, Tom, of Manchester; two sons, Wayne Larson and his wife Betty, of Dougherty, and Richard Larson, of Sheffield; 17 grandchildren, Kevin, Shannon and Kelly, Bob, Karen, Karla, Randy and Rick, Kathy, and Costa, Valerie, Tony, Ann, Suzy and Alan, Lance and Lane; 20 great -grandchildren, David, Dana, Christopher, Eric and Lucas, Meghan and Joslyn, Jamie and Tony, Jennie and Jeremy, Brandon, Andrea, Alexis, Chesley and Tiana, Jordan, Michelle, and Alex, and Tyler; and one great-great-grandson, Dylan; two brothers, Ennon and Ed Etzen, both of Forest City; and three sisters, Irene Cook of Clear Lake; Bernedetta Brackey of Northwood and Louise Hanson of LeRoy Minn; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Antone “Tony” in 1965, an infant daughter, Betty Lou; an infant great-grandson, Shane Waychus; a daughter-in-law, Karen Emhoff Larson; her parents, one sister, Rose Peterson; and two brothers, John and Peter Etzen.
