MRS ED PETERSON DIED ON TUESDAY
Lingering Illness Culminates In Death at Home on West Second St.
Was Born in Denmark; Came Here When a Girl of Seventeen Years
The announcement that Mrs. Ed Peterson had passed this life at 3:30 Tuesday morning brought grief to her numerous relatives and acquaintances. Mrs. Peterson had been in declining health for over a year and had submitted to a surgical operation some months ago. She had been steadily growing worse for several weeks so that her passing was not a surprise.
Funeral services are to be held Friday. The body will lie in state at the Boughton Funeral Home until 2 o'clock Thursday. The time of the funeral is 1 o'clock at the home and at 1:30 at the Methodist church. The Rev. O. M. Johnson in charge.
Marie Olson was born in Tornmark, Sjeland, Denmark, on September 10, 1871, a daughter to Ole and Elizabeth Olson. When a girl of seventeen she came to America with her parents and settled near Britt, where their sons and brothers Lars Peter, Ole and Louie M. had already settled.
On March 12, 1889, she united in marraige to Edward Peterson, the ceremony being performed by the Rev. Johnson in the congregational church in Britt. they established a home south of Crystal Lake on what is known as the Upper Flat. Here their ten children were born. they are Bernard of Blooming Prairie, Minn., Lewis of Mitchell, S.D., Mrs. Bernhardt Jensen, Britt, Victor of Baron, Wis., Mrs. Chris Hogard of Buffalo Center, Walter of Britt, George of Worthington, Minn., Mrs. John Brown, Britt, Mrs. Carl Pearson, Wesley and Emanuel of Britt. There are 26 grandchildren.
All these, together with the husband, three brothers, L.P. Olson of Wesley and L. M. Olson of Delavan, Minn. and Hans Olson in Denmark, also one sister, Mrs. Jens Jensen in Denmark, survive. A brother, Ole, died three months ago.
Mrs. Peterson was a devout Christian, her church affiliation being with the Evangelical Free denomination. Her life is an open book of kindly deeds and her life can well (not able to read the rest). Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Britt.
