W. C. Duffy, 82, Dies in City

William C. Duffy, 82, longtime Hamilton county resident, died at 12:40 a.m. today at the Hamilton county hospital. He had been a patient there since last Friday but had been in failing health the past three years. He suffered a broken hip in a fall last Friday. Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Aquinas church. Father Joseph F. Wiehl will officiate and burial will be in the Williams Catholic cemetery. Rosary will be at 8 o'clock Thursday night at the Foster funeral home. The body will be taken to the home, 620 Dubuque Friday morning and rosary will be at 8:15 at the home Friday night.

William C. Duffy, son of Thomas and Brigit Duffy, was born March 22, 1871 on a farm near Williams. He was educated and reared in the Williams community. He later attended Ellsworth college at Iowa Falls. He was united in marriage Nov. 28, 1906 to Miss Kate Defske of Duncombe. Mr. and Mrs. Duffy started housekeeping on a farm two and one-half miles west of Williams where they resided for 38 years. They retired at that time and purchased a home at 620 Dubuque street and moved into Webster City, there home since.

Mr. Duffy is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Charles W. (Alice) Johnson of Webster City; three foster sons, Leslie Conrad of Bryson, S.C.; William Trask of Oceanville, N.J. and Walter Smith of San Francisco, Calif.; four grandchildren, Charlotte Johnson, a student nurse at Iowa City; Elaine and Bobby Johnson of Webster City and Billy Trask, Jr., of Oceanville, N.J. Also surviving are four brothers and one sister: Thomas Duffy Sr., and Joe Duffy, both of Oldham, S. D., John Duffy of Duncombe; Charles Duffy, Williams and Mrs. Alice McDonald of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters. The family has requested no flowers.
