Both John Milton West and Sarah (Gassaway) West are buried in Graceland Cemetery in Webster City.
May 15, 1946 -- May 9, 1910 (Sarah)
September 2, 1839 --- January 27, 1915 (John)Monday evening at her home in Kamrar occurred the death of Mrs. J. M. West. She was nearly 64 years of age and died from blood poisoning. The funeral was held from the Christian church in Kamrar. Internment was made in Graceland cemetery, this city. The death of Mrs. West was particularly sad. About four weeks ago a tack in her shoe penetrated her foot and blood poison set in. She suffered terribly and death finally came as a great relief. Surviving her are the husband, a son, Walter of Minnesota, a daughter, Mrs. Freize of this city, an adopted daughter, Miss Pearl and two step sons. The West family had lived in Kamrar 12 years. Hosts of friends mourn with the relatives the passing of Mrs. West, who was a good woman in all the relations of life.

Sarah E. Gassaway West
Sarah E. Gassaway was born at Chillicothe, Ohio, May 14, 1846, and departed this life at her home at Kamrar, Iowa, May 9, 1910, being 63 years, 11 months, and 25 days. At the age of ten she moved with her parents to LeRoy, Ill. The deceased was one of a family of twelve children of whom nine are living-five sisters and four brothers. Her twin sister, Mrs. Robert Barr of LeRoy, Ill., and one brother Jackson Gassaway, attended the funeral. In the year 1876, Sarah Gassaway was united in marriage to John M. West of LeRoy, Ill. God blessed this union with two children, whom with her husband, two stepsons, and adopted daughter she leaves to mourn her departure. When twelve years old she united with the Presbyterian church and upon coming to Iowa joined the Church of Christ of Kamrar, of which she was a faithful member at the time of her decease. Sister West lived a helpful, cheerful life and was always happy when serving and cheering others. She will be greatly missed by the church, and her family, and circle of friends. She has heard the voice of the Lord saying: "Enter thou into the joyous of thy Lord." "And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me. Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them."
