As printed in the Webster City Freeman August 19, 1913, page 5

Charles Olmstead died this afternoon. Passed away at the home of his sister after a long and painful illness.

Charles Olmstead, better known in Webster City as "Shiloh", died this afternoon at the home of his sister, Mrs. Mattie Grant, on east Bank Street, after a long and painful illness.

The deceased was one of the best known characters in the city, having lived here many years. He erected a small house upon the banks of the Boone River many years ago, which was known as "Shiloh's Cbin", and which has occupied a place in the history of the county as one of the points of local interest. The cabin is just south of Bank Street Bridge and upon several occasions when the river was high it was necessary to anchor the cabin with ropes to surrounding tr4ees to prevent it from going down the stream. Mr Olmstead claimed to be the drummer boy of Shiloh.
