The Moore family was in Iowa at least by 1856 in Jefferson County. They were living in York Township, Morgan County, Ohio in 1850. C. Moore is Catharinus B. Moore who was born in 1841, probably in Morgan County, Ohio. He and Mary Gantz were married on October 15, 1863 in Fairfield, Jefferson County, Iowa. Mary Gantz was born about 1837 in Ohio. Catharinus is the son of Isaac and Ruhama [McConnaha] Moore who were married on November 1, 1827 in Morgan County, Ohio. Between 1870 and 1880, both Isaac Moore and Mary (Gantz) Moore are deceased since Ruhama Moore and Catharinus are both listed as widowed in the 1880 census. Marion Moore is enumerated as Frank which is probably for "Francis Marion Moore." Isaac Moore is the son of Henry Moore of Morgan County, Ohio. Marion Moore was married on July 12, 1893 in Webster City, Hamilton County, but appears to have not been born there but probably in Fremont or Mahaska Counties, Iowa.
