Scandal?

Mary Jane Carr married H.L. Taylor 5/28/1879 in Webster City, Hamilton County, Iowa.

There was some kind of scandal involving Mary Jane Carr and the Iowa Falls Hotel. This was about 1875-1879.

Mary Jane Carr left Iowa in about 1879. Her husband was supposedly a bounty hunter who had headed for Washington State chasing a bad guy. No word was ever heard of him that we know of and Mary Jane married someone else in 1880 in Washington. She reportedly lost a child in 1879 in Seattle.

I would like to understand what happened. Any clues??????
