LAURA FISHER JOHNSON
The sympathy of the community went out to Fred O. Johnson, of Remsen, Iowa, last week, when the word was received of the death of his wife Laura Belle, the daughter of Robert and Jane Fisher, who was born near Stanhope, January 27, 1888. Mrs. Johnson lived near Stanhope, attended the country school near her home and grew to young womanhood in Hamilton County. She was united in marriage to Fred O. Johnson, of Webster City, June 27, 1908, and to this union five children were born, all of whom are living. They are Mabel [should be Noble], age 11 years, Margaret, age 8 years, Lawrence age 6 years, Dorothy, age 3 years, and Paul, the baby who will be two weeks old February 12th.
Besides these children who survive the mother, she leaves her husband, Fred O. Johnson, of Remsen, Iowa, one sister, Mrs. Burt L. Prouty, of Algona, three brothers, Robert E. Fisher, of Stanhope; Ray Fisher [should be LeRoy "Roy" Fisher], of Pocahontas; and Ralph Fisher, of Stanhope; also her father, Robert Fisher, who resides at Stanhope. Her mother died several years ago. Mrs. Johnson was ill but one week, the cause of her death being due to influenza.
She gave her young life February 4, 1920, at 1:25 p. m., at the age of 32 years and 8 days, back to her master, who she has served as one of his faithful children since she entered His service quite early in life when she affiliated herself with the United Brethren church. She will be remembered by those who knew her as a faithful and true friend, a kind and loving mother. She was a very sympathetic person to others in times of sickness for she had known much of ---- in her life.
She moved to Remsen, Iowa, about two years ago with her husband where she resided until her death. Her body was brought to Webster City Thursday of last week and placed in the vault. Arrangements for the funeral service will be made later by her husband who has been quite ill, and also other members of the family were sick with influenza.
Mrs. Johnson leaves a host of friends who sympathize with the bereaved husband and children.
