Jorgen Bonde Sorensen
Jorgen Bonde Sorensen was born in Denmark, May 3, 1830, and died Monday morning, January 2nd, at four o'clock at the home of his son, George Johnson, in Jewell, where he has made his home for a number of years past. In 1881 the deceased came to America, and since that time has made his home in or near Jewell.
Mr. Sorenson was united in marriage to Mary Katrina Knudsen and to them four children were born, three of whom are living. They are: George Johnson, of Jewell, Mrs. Andrew Hanson, of Webster City, and Mrs. Sena Anderson of Randers, Denmark. He is also survived by many grand-children and a number of great-grandchildren. His wife died January 29th, 1905, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hanson, in Webster City, and is buried at Jewell.
Mr. Sorensen had been in bed a little more than 5 weeks. At the time of his death he was 91 years, 7 months and 29 days old. He has always been a faithful member of the Danish Lutheran Church.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock at the home of his son, George Johnson, conducted by his grandson, Rev. Peter J. Hanson, of Hudson, S. Dak. The pall bearers were: Thos. Peterson, T. C. Jensen, John Peterson, Andrew Miller, Ole Hanson and S. C. Severson. The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of the entire community.
