MRS. NELSON
Inger Johnson was born February 9, 1829, in Sweden and died at her home at Stanhope, Iowa, December 22, 1922, at the age of 93 years, 10 months and 13 days.
She was married to Sven Nelson, November 12, 1854. This was a union entered into which lasted 68 years, and to them were born six children, five daughters and one son, three of whom preceded the mother in death, Anna, Nels and Clara, who died in infancy.
There are left to mourn the loss of a most kind and loving wife and mother, an aged husband and three daughters, Mrs. John Jacobson of Stanhope, Mrs. Elsie Swanson of Des Moines and Mrs. Mathilda Bjustrom of Boone. There are also six grand children and eight great grand children.
Mr. and Mrs. Nelson came to this country from Sweden in 1857, and settled in Moline, Illinois, where they lived ten years. In 1867 they came to Boone county, Iowa and resided there until twelve years ago, when they moved to Stanhope where the deceased passed away.
Mrs. Nelson was the possessor of a strong character. She never allowed much room for the willful wrong doing to her God and family. To her, her duties were sacred and received her constant attention. She never shirked any duty, no matter how trifling it might appear to others. The family could always depend on mother.
The funeral services were conducted from the house at 1:30 o'clock, Tuesday, December 26, 1922, and from the M. E. Church at 2:00 o'clock, with Rev. G. H. Dick in charge. Her remains were laid to rest in the Evergreen [Lawn Hill] cemetery near Stanhope.
The following old friends were pall bearers: Andrew P. Peterson, Oscar Erickson, Albert Jacobson, Hans Bjorkland, Erick Sudderberg and Emil Erickson.
