RANDALL RAYS

Obituary of Carrie Peterson

Miss Carrie Peterson was born April 17, 1877, at the farm home near Randall, where her parents settled in the year 1864, and died at the home of her sisters in Fort Dodge, Jan. 27, 1930.

She spent most of her life at the old home and was a member of the North St. Petri church, where she held the position as organist for several years.

In March, 1917, she, together with her mother moved to Story City, where they lived until her mother's death on June 27, 1927.

Since that time she made her home with her sisters at Fort Dodge, where she died.

She leaves to mourn her departure four sisters and a brother. They are Mrs. Helen Swenson, Misses Regina and Agnes Peterson of Fort Dodge, Mrs. Dora Owenson and Mr. N. J. Peterson, both of near Randall.

She was an active member of the Lutheran church all her life and took special interest in the Sunday school as well as all other work that helps to promote a Christian life.

She faithfully attended St. Olaf Lutheran church while living in Fort Dodge, and it was her wish had she become well again, to become a member of that church in January this year. But God willed it otherwise.

She was ready when the call came, and in Jesus she put her trust and confidence. On the last Sunday that she lived, and at the hour of morning service at St. Olaf church, she asked for her hymn book and although very weak, she sang together with her sisters the two hymns, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," and "Abide with Me," after which he lapsed into unconsciousness in which she remained until death.

These parting hymns, together with her confession of her belief in Jesus Christ, were a comfort to those who were near as death approached, as well as all who knew her.

The funeral service was held on Jan. 30th at 11 o'clock at Fort Dodge, conducted by Rev. S. A. Berge of that place. In the afternoon of the same day at 2:30, services were held at Elim Lutheran church at Randall, conducted by Rev. G. O. Paulsrud and Rev. Berge. Burial was made at Mamrelund cemetery.
