OBITUARY

Peter H. Peterson

Peter H. Peterson, was born at Hetland, Fistersogn, Norway, Oct. 22nd, 1843.

He came with his parents to America in the year 1850 and settled in LaSalle Co., Ill., and lived with them until 1864 when he was united in marriage to Anna Johnson. They were blessed with eight children, of which four are living, viz, Mrs. John K. Uhr of Ft. Dodge, Iowa; Ole Peterson of Ellsworth, Iowa; Mrs. Francis Prudhon of Nashua, Iowa, and Mrs. Lillian Shelton of Des Moines. Four children died in their infancy. His wife died January 8, 1878.

He was married again the 2nd of October, 1879 to Enger Bergeson. They moved to Hamilton Co., Iowa, in the spring of 1880 where they lived up to the time of death. To this second marriage four children were born of which three are living, Oscar S. Peterson of Dows, Iowa; Mrs. A. T. Buckels of Titonka, Iowa, and Clarence Peterson of Dows. One died in infancy.

He has lived in Ellsworth since the spring of 1906. He has been an active member of the Lutheran Church for the last 25 years. He was vice president of the mission society the last three years and worked faithfully as far as his health would permit.

He had been a true and active Christian since his boyhood. He died Tuesday morning, June 18, 1918 at the age of 74 years, 7 months and 26 days and leaves to mourn his loss a wife, 7 children, 17 grandchildren. Also two brothers and two sisters and all who ever knew him.
