CLIFTON OWENSON

Clifton Owenson, son of Peter and Theodora Owenson, was born on a farm one mile south of Randall July 29, 1899, and passed away at his home in Story City Monday, Sept. 22, 1941, at the age of 42 years and two months.

He was baptized in Elim church on Sept. 24, 1899. The sponsors at his baptism were George and Inga Thoreson, Andrew Owenson and Carrie Owenson. He was confirmed in the same church on Oct. 25, 1914. His classmates were Edna Hanson, Myrtle Johnson, Emma Olson, Ina Peterson, Bessie Sowers, Mildred Larson, Alvina Pederson, Olive Skeie, Bertha Thompson, Elmer Charlson, Ruth Teigland, Leo Olson, Henry Anderson, Hactor Tjernagel and Jordan Paulsrud. Three of this class have already passed beyond.

With the exception of a brief stay at Story City, Clifton spent his whole life on the farm of his birthday. He was of a quiet disposition, kind hearted and faithful. -is- as he many times was he managed to get to church to hear the word of god as often as he could.

Some years ago he contracted asthma from which he suffered a great deal, but very patiently. The family, especially his mother, did all that human hands would do to find a cure or at least relief for his sufferings. He was taken out west, then to Canada, to Rochester, Iowa City and several trips to the hospital in Story City but no lasing help could be found. Death seemed to be the only relief.

Clifton was not a man of many words when it came to spiritual experiences, but he confessed his faith and trust in his Savior, and in his hope of eternal life, so we may true say that for him death was a gain.

He leaves to mourn his departure his mother, a sister, Mrs. Lily Nostbakken of Canada, two brothers, Orville and Nomer of Randall, and many relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held from the home in Story City and the Elim Lutheran church at Randall Sept. 26, where Rev. G. O. Paulsrud officiated. A quartet sang two appropriate songs. A large audience paid the deceased their last respects. A sum of $29.00 was given to Missions in his memory. Pallbearers were T. Z. Henryson, John Ragee, Leo Olson, Harris Johsnon, Ansil Mortvedt and Selmer Hoveland. Interment was made at the Mt. Olive Cemetery, Randall.
