Death of Wilma and Wilbur Ness

Wilma Maxine Ness was born in Hamilton county, east of Randall, on Oct. 6, 1921 and died at the hospital in Marshalltown on Sunday, Oct. 3, 1926, at the age of five years. Wilbur Jerome Ness was born at Marshalltown Aug. 29, 1923 and died at that place on Sunday, Oct.3, 1926, at the age of three years. The cause of their death was drinking poisoned well water. They were the children of Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Ness now of Marshalltown but formerly of this community. The children were brought here last Thursday for burial, and were taken to the home of Mr. Ness' sister, Mrs. Manley Hetland, where a short service was held at 1:30 and at the North St. Petri church at 2 conducted by Rev. Paulsrud of Randall assisted by Rev. Lee of Marshalltown, who was with the children on Sunday morning as they passed away, and told them of Jesus who loves all little children. Two little girls from Marshalltown sung the song that these little ones loved to sing, "Jesus Loves Me This I Know." Wilma and Wilbur leave to mourn their passing their father and mother, two sisters and two brothers, a large number of relatives, their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. G. Ness of Doodell, Ia., and Mr. and Mrs. Gandy [should be Arney] of Marshalltown. Their mother was too ill be be present at the funeral. Two little girls and two little boys acted as pall bearers. Many sorrowing friends and relatives were in attendance at the last sad rites. Many beautiful flowers adorned the casket, as expressions of deep sympathy in this hour of sorrow. Burial was made in the Mamreland cemetery.
