Nels Olson Passed Away

Nels Olson, one of the old time settlers of Randall, passed away at his home northwest of town Friday evening, after a few hours illness at the home of his son, Chris. Nels Olson was born at Yilland, Denmark, October 22nd, 1841, and passed away at Randall, Iowa, April 17, 1925, at the age of 83 years.

He came to America with his wife and six children in 1881. He has lived on his farm practically all the time since he came to this country. His wife died two years ago. Since that time he has had his home with his son, Chris Olson. He seemed to be near to his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the home at one o'clock and two o'clock at the Lutheran church at Randall by Rev. G. O. Paulsrud. He leaves to mourn his departure ten children. They are: Peter Olson of Elmore, Minn., Mrs. N. S. Nelson of Des Moines, Martin Olson of Randall, Mrs. Carl Egland and Sam Olson of Jewell, Mrs. Mary Allie of Story City, John Olson of Des Moines, Mrs. Carl Thoreson of Ames, Nels P. Olson and Chris Olson of Randall. He also leaves 44 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Many sorrowing relatives and friends were at the last sad rites. Beautiful floral decorations adorned the casket as expressions of deep sympathy in this hour of sorrow. Besides the children the out of town people at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Glen Stark of Stanhope, Mr. and Mrs. John Peterson and sons of Jewell, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Kalling of Jewell, Mrs. Mary House and Mildred and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Johnson of Jewell.
