OBITUARY

PETER H. ESPELAND

Peter H. Espeland, son of Haakin and Jennie Espeland, was born at Beaver Creek, Minn., Sept. 26, 1883 and died at the Woodman sanitarium, Woodman, Colo., Oct. 24, 1942, at the age of 59 year and 28 years.[sic]

He came to Jewell as a youth and lived there for many years. He also made his home in Alden and Gifford for some years. The last 30 years he has made his home in Randall. While here he was engaged in section work on the Chicago & Northwestern railroad.

Mr. Espeland was a very good family supporter. He reared a fine family of which any father could be proud. It can be said, too, that his children were working together with the father in maintaining a very nice home. Mr. Espeland's income was not great, but by hard work and careful management he was able to procure and maintain a comfortable residence.

After his day's work on the road he would be busy around the home taking care of his cow and chickens. He was satisfied with his lot in life, never complained and was always cheerful. He will be greatly missed in the neighborhood.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and six children. They are: Mrs. Frank Clark of Chillicothe, Howard of Atlantic, Mrs. C. W. Ranger of Radcliffe, Mrs. Sherman Thompson, Porter and Glenn all of Randall. A brother, George Espeland of Nashwauk, Minn., two sisters, Mrs. Erick Erickson of LeGrand and Mrs. Clara Hogan of Mt. Vernon, Wash., also survive, besides 11 grandchildren, 8 nieces and nephews and a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held from the home at 1:30 and Elim church at 2:00 on October 30th. A male quartet sang two numbers. Pallbearers were S. Tjentland, M. Anderson, R. Frette, E. Erickson, J. Johnson and M. Nelson. $31 was given to Missions in his memory. Interment was made at the Jewell cemetery.
