OBITUARY

SYRUS HAGE

Funeral services were held Monday, April 2 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell for Syrus H. Hage, 69, Story City area retired farmer and former Ellsworth rural resident, who died at his farm Thursday, March 29.

The Rev. Olaf Holen of Ames was in charge of services. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery at Jewell. Serving as pallbearers were Perry Peterson, Osmund Soppeland, Virgil Hansen, Oscar Larson, Ira Thoreson and Lawrence Omvig.

Syrus Hage, son of Hans and Christina Peterson Hage, was born May 2, 1892 in Shelby Co., Iowa, moving to Ellsworth at the age of 12.

On December 16, 1913, he was married to Emma Iverson at Williams, and the couple farmed in the Ellsworth area until 16 years ago when they moved to a farm near Story City.

He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell.

Surviving are his wife; three children, Mrs. Lester (Clela) Caauwe of Minneapolis, Howard Hage of Alden and Floyd Hage of Ames, one sister, Clara Engstrom and Sioux City, and five grandchildren.
