Mrs. J.H. Kane, 82, widely known Webster City resident, died Sunday afternoon at the Hamilton county hospital following a short illness.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic church with Msgr. A.A. Halbach officiating and with burial in the Catholic cemetery.

Rosary will be at 8 o'clock this evening at the Foster funeral home.

Lillian Pettygrove, daughter of Frederick and Margaret Pettygrove, was born Feb. 18, 1878, at Waseca, Wis. As a young girl, she moved with her parents to New Hampton, where she was reared and educated.

She taught school in the New Hampton community for several terms. She was united in marriage in 1901 to John H. Kane, and Mr. and Mrs. Kane resided at Osage, Iowa, until 1910, when they moved to Webster City where Mr. Kane owned and operated a variety store.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. George Alexander, Sr. of Webster City; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Harriet Smith of Fullerton, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Kane was a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas church and was a member of the Needlework club.
