WELL KNOWN CLOTHING MAN IS SUMMONED BY DEATH

Joe Oppenheimer Dies at Cherokee Hospital Following Long Illness With Hardening of Arteries.

A dispatch received by Mrs. Julius Bermann last Wednesday forenoon from Mr. Bermann announced the death of Joe Oppenheimer, which occurred at the hospital in Cherokee at about 11 o'clock this forenoon. Mr. Bermann was summoned to Cherokee Tuesday by a message stating that Mr. Oppenheimer's condition was precarious. He left at noon, arriving there a few hours before Mrs. Oppenheimer, who went to Cherokee from Des Moines, having also been summoned by wire. Although critically ill when his wife and nephew arrived at his bedside, Mr. Oppenheimer had not lost consciousness and recognized them both, calling them by name.

A period of intense suffering has been brought to an end by the death of this well known Webster City man. For years he had been a victim of hardening of the arteries, which disease became gradually more severe until at times the pain was almost more than the sufferer could bear. Some time ago he went to the hospital at Cherokee for treatment. In his death Webster City loses one of its long-time clothing men, and his going hence will be mourned by his many business associates as well as all who knew him.

[Mr. Oppenheimer and his wife, Freda Simon Oppenheimer, are both buried at Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, Iowa. His date of birth according to Find A Grave is 10 Jan 1859]
