W.H. Meeks, who has lived sixty-four years of his life in this city and vicinity. passed away last night about 10:30 o'clock at his home, 815 Elm street, after about a week of terrible suffering, following a severe attack of influenza. His condition has been critical for the past week.

William H. Meeks was one of the oldest residents of Webster City and vicinity, having been born, July 12, 1854 in Fairfield county, Ohio, and coming to Webster City with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Meeks, when he was four years old. He was therefore sixty-eighty years of age.

He was united in marriage September 16, 1875 to Miss Martha Emmeline Barr, also a daughter of pioneer settlers and to this union were born four children - three daughters and one son, all of whom, with their mother, survive. These are: Mrs. Jacob H. Foust and Mrs. C.W. Wright, both of whom reside northeast of this city; M.C. Meeks, of Omaha, and Miss Florence E. Meeks, of this city. There are four grandchildren, and other relatives, also a brother, who survive Mr. Meeks death. The brother is F.L. Meeks of Marshalltown.

For many years the family resided on a farm south of town, moving to this city about eight years ago to the home on Elm street.

The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at one o'clock at the family home on Elm street, Rev. R.T. Chipperfield conducting the services. Interment will be in Graceland cemetery.

[his wife's obituary - Martha Barr Meeks - lists family member as Faust not Foust as his does so I included both spellings]
