Fred Froh, 84, of Humboldt, a former Duncombe resident, died Sunday, January 29, 2006 at the Humboldt Care Center North. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with Rev. Travis Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in the Washington Cemetery at Havelock, Ia. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and at the church after 8:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Frederick Ernest Froh, son of Ernest and Alta Thompson Froh, was born May 22, 1921 on a farm northeast of Havelock. He received his education at the Havelock Public School. He started farming northeast of Havelock. On March 7, 1943 he married Jessalie Ione Harmon at the Trinity Lutheran Church at Mallard. The couple farmed at Havelock for 7 years, then one year at LuVerne. In 1952, he started working at United States Gypsum. They moved to Duncombe in 1965. He retired in 1985. He had resided at the care center since November 23, 2005.

Mr. Froh is survived by his wife, Jessalie; daughters, Virginia Mahn of Waterloo; Jean Tomlinson of Greenfield; sons and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Wendy Froh of Dakota City; Kenneth Froh of Webster City; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Elnora Ritland of Story City.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lyle Froh.

He is a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church and enjoyed gardening and fishing.
