Richard Beermann, 81, Webster City, died Oct. 2, 1995 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with Rev. Mark Buchhop officiating. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery. Military rites were conducted by American Legion Post No. 191.

Richard Harold Beermann, son of Frank and Hulda Horn Beermann, was born Feb. 24, 1914 on a farm south of Webster City. He was educated at the St. Paul's Lutheran Parochial School in Webster City. In April of 1941, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served until October of 1945 on a Destroyer in the Atlantic as a motor machinist. Following his discharge, he returned to Webster City. On Aug. 4, 1943 he married Stella A. Frey in Boston, Mass. The couple resided in Webster City and he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service from November of 1948 until he retired in June of 1974. He also operated a furniture repair business until 1983.

He is survived by his wife, Stella Beermann, Webster City; sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence and Susan Beermann, San Ramon, Calif., Ronald and Mary Beermann of Chicago, Ill., William Beermann, Chicago, Ill., daughter, Elaine D. Beermann, Enumclas, Wa.; grandsons, Joshua and Nicholas Beermann; sisters, Florence Rogness, Hopkins, Minn., Mildred Rogness, Poulsbo, Wa.; and several nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Howard Beermann, Franklin Beermann and sister Helen Wing.

Mr. Beermann was a member of the American Legion Post No. 191.

Memorials may be given to the Lutheran Braille Workers Inc. or Lutheran World Relief.
