Paul Baker, 54, 1105 Second St., died Tuesday afternoon at his home. He had been in ill health the past 10 months.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Paul D. Williamson officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Vernon Paul Baker, son of Vernon and Esther Norman Baker, was born Dec. 28, 1921 in Leon, Iowa. He was reared and educated at College Springs, Iowa. On Jan. 16, 1944 he was united in marriage to Beverly Rose Smalley, and the couple lived in Webster City where he was employed at the Franklin Mfg. Co.

He is survived by his wife and two sons, Dirk Francis Baker of Ankeny and Bruce Paul Baker of Leadville, Colo., and one granddaughter.

He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Esther Baker and three brothers and three sisters, Wesley Baker of Edina, Minn., Keith Baker and Kermit Baker, both of Webster City; Mrs. Leo (Norma) Hilpipre, Virginia Smalley and Mrs. Virgil (Zada) Sharkey, all of Webster City.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Baker was baptized in the Methodist faith and was a member of the American Legion.
