Marilyn Strain, 90, of Webster City died Sunday April 4, 2021 at Van Diest Medical
Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Asbury United
Methodist Church with Pastor Phil Webb, officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation
will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 7th at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.
Marilyn Joy Young was born August 22, 1930 at Plover, IA to Almon and Mary Seay
Young. She grew up with one sister and five brothers born in various parts of Iowa and
graduated from Graettinger High School with the Class of 1948. She married Harold (Harry) Frank Strain
August 28, 1948 at the Methodist Parsonage in Graettinger. To this union two daughters and one son
were born. Kathy, Jan, and Larry. They moved to Webster City in 1949 and Harry went to work at
Electrolux. Marilyn worked at K & M Laundry, Hy-Vee, Electrolux, Modern Farm Systems, and retired
from Van Diest Supply in 1993.
Marilyn is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Jim) Shaver of Manhattan, KS, Jan
Eich (Pam Fitzgibbon) of Webster City, IA; and one son, Larry (Deanne) Strain of West Branch; five granddaughters, Susan (Mike) Boller, Cindy Shaver both of Manhattan, KS.,
Tammy (Roger II) Seiser of Newton; Tina (Kevin) Lawrence of Eagle Grove; Shawnna (Jacob)
Eganhouse, of Norwalk; twelve great grandchildren, Madison, Hayden, Morgan, Palin,
MaKenna, Reilly, Logan, Addyson, Caleb, Brayden, Ryleigh, and Jace; brother-in-law, Ray
Montgomery; sister-in-law Barb Young both of Webster City; sister-in-law, Shirley Strain of Fort
Dodge; sister-in-law Pat Young of Dewey, AZ; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; parents, Almon and Mary Seay
Young; mother and father-in-law, Mont Ralph and Agnes Strain; five brothers, Elliott, Gary,
Gordon, Vic, and Terry Young; one sister, Shirley Rickard; son- in -law, Mark Eich; brother- in-
Law, Ronald Rickard; sister-in-laws, Lois Montgomery, Helen Simmons, Doris Green, Rose Wherta, and Alice Cress.
Marilyn was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, The Asbury Care Team,
Deborah Circle, Hospital Auxiliary, and Former Women of the Moose.
Marilyn loved family, coffee at Hy-Vee, volunteering at Church, visiting nursing homes
and card clubs. She and Harry enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling, square dancing, playing cards, U.A.W
Retiree potlucks and spending time with our children and extended family.
