Lauretta Evans, 78, Claremont, Calif., a former Webster City resident, died Tuesday, April 9, at Doctors's Hospital in Montclair, Calif.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 15, at Foster's Funeral Home with Dr. Charles W. Smith officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Saturday until the time of service.

Lauretta Callery Evans, the daughter of Edward and Laura (Ely) Callery, was born March 29, 1913 in Webster City. She was educated in Webster City and graduated from Webster City High School in 1932.

On Jan. 19, 1942 she married Ivan R. Evans in Bethany, Mo., and the couple resided in Webster City. Following Mr. Evans service during World War II, the couple moved to Winterset for seven years. The couple then returned to Webster City and owned and operated Fashion Cleaners.

Following her husbands's death in 1961, she continued to operate Fashion Cleaners. In 1974, she moved to Des Moines and in 1984 she moved to Claremont.

She is survived by two daughters; Laura Schnabel, and Lana Jenkins, both of Claremont, and one son, Charles Evans, Webster City, and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one grandson, two brothers and two sisters.

She was a member of the Universalist Church and First Baptist Church in Webster City and St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Claremont.
