Mildred Halleck Skilbred, 76, Visalia, Calif. died Oct. 6, 1994 at her home. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Foster Funeral Home with Richard Laird officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today until time of service.

Mildred Lenore Brown, daughter of Roy and Allie (Hubbard) Brown, was born Dec. 1, 1917 at Winterset. She moved with her parents to Ankeny, then in 1930 the family moved to Webster City. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1935.

On Sept. 26, 1939 she married Lawrence "Pat" Halleck at Fayette. The couple resided at Eldora, Webster City, Grand Junction, Perry and Oelwein. In Webster City, she was employed in restaurant management. Her husband died in September of 1970. She returned to Webster City in 1971. On Oct. 28, 1972 she married Raymond O. Skilbred in Des Moines. The couple farmed south of Blairsburg and spent their winters in Arizona. Her second husband died in November of 1991. She then continued to reside in Arizona. In August of 1993, she moved to California to her daughter's home.

She is survived by daughter, Bette Monroy of Visalia, Calif.; sons, Roger Halleck of Marshalltown and Richard Halleck of Fresno, Calif.; step-daughters, Delores Bauman of Eagle Grove, Barbara Alfseike of Jewell; five grandchildren; and one step-grandchild. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Dorothy Loring Berry.

She was a member of the New Testament Church of Christ.
