Mrs. Ray Skilbred, 63, a long-time resident of the Blairsburg community, died Thursday evening at Mary Greeley hospital in Ames where she had been a patient the past 15 days.

She had been in ill health for several years.

Private funeral services for the immediate family and relatives will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Harry E. Krieg, Jr., officiating and with burial in the Rose Grove cemetery southwest of Williams.

Friends may call at the Foster Funeral home until 1 p.m. Monday.

Julia Nielsen, daughter of Hans P. and Johanna Nielsen, was born Feb. 8, 1907 on a farm near Story City and reared and educated in the Story City-Jewell vicinity.

She was united in marriage Nov. 5, 1924 to Raymond Skilbred and the couple had always since farmed in the Blairsburg area.

She is survived by her husband and two daughters: Mrs. Roger (DeLores) Bauman of Woolstock; Mrs. Andrew (Barbara) Alfseike of Jewell; three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Norma Sampson of Ames, Mrs. Clara Green, Anderson, Ind., Mrs. Threna Miller of Ames, Harry Nielsen, Story City and Arthur Nielsen of Belmond.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. Mrs. Skilbred was baptized in the Lutheran faith.
