Melvin Ubben, 62, Williams, died Sept. 4, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 2, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Williams, Rev. Tom Hankins officiating. Burial will be in the Williams Cemetery. Visitation at Surls Funeral Chapel in Williams will be from 5-8 p.m. tonight and at the church one hour prior to the service.

Melvin Ubben, son of Ben and Carrie (Honken) Ubben, was born July 8, 1929 in Williams. He attended schools in the Williams area. He married Marilyn Schutt on Dec. 20, 1952 at the Vernon Lutheran Church in Dows. The couple farmed in the Williams area.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, Williams; a daughter, Margaret Dannen, Adel; three sisters, Ricksta Davis, Webster City; Elsie Maples, Stanhope; and Minnie Larson, Goodell; a brother, Edward Ubben, Webster City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and six sisters.
