Robert L. Ross, 61, a longtime Webster City businessman, died at 9 a.m. Saturday at his home, 305 Edgewood Drive. He had been in ill health for the past year.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral Home with Father Joseph Sullivan officiating and with burial in Graceland Cemetery. A flag-folding service will be conducted at graveside by the American Legion Post 191.

Robert L. Ross, son of Frank B. and Winnie Lee Eaton Ross, was born Dec. 30, 1917 in Kentucky. He later moved with his family to Iowa in 1928, locating on a farm near Stanhope then moving to Webster City in 1932 where he was graduated from Lincoln High school.

He served with the U.S. Army in the medical corps in the European theatre during World War II. Following his discharge in December 1945, he returned to Webster City where he was married May 21, 1946 to Lillian Mayer and the couple had always since resided in Webster City.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter and one son, Mrs. Charles (Terry) Dutcher of Denver, Iowa, and Larry Ross, Webster City; two granddaughters, Eden and Erin Dutcher; one brother and five sisters, Don Ross, Webster City, Mrs. Kathleen Peterson, Stanhope, Mrs. John (Willy) Davis of Oxen Hill, Md., Mrs. Clyde (Edna) Helmick of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Lloyd (LaVerne) Sims, Silver Springs, Md., and Mrs. Joe (Marilyn Reamsnyder of Rockville, Md., and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Winifred, who died in infancy; his parents and one brother, Jack Ross.

He was a member of the Webster City Country club, the American Legion, the Elks Lodge and the VFW.
