Joyce Kooker, age 75, of Ellsworth, IA, died on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines, IA.

Joyce Anne Kooker was born on May 8, 1939 in Ellsworth, IA. She was born the daughter of Burton and Thelma Olson.

She grew up in Radcliffe and received her education by attending the Radcliffe Public School.

Joyce was married to Jim Kooker for 52 years. After their marriage, they moved to Ellsworth and all four kids graduated from South Hamilton School. She worked at the Ellsworth Cooperative Turkey Plant, Thompson Hatchery and American Packaging. Joyce and Jim operated a café in Ellsworth for several years.

Joyce was a member and actively involved in Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth.

She enjoyed bowling, card playing and volunteering in the reading program at South Hamilton School.

Joyce passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, IA.

Those remaining to cherish her memory include her husband Jim of Ellsworth; two daughters Robin (Keith) Hovick of Ellsworth and Cynthia (Jim) Allen of Dover, FL; two sons Carroll Hanson of Silver Spring, MD and Rick (Janine) Kooker of Ellsworth, IA; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister Jeraldine Keyes of Gold Canyon, AZ; two brothers William Olson of Radcliffe, IA and Irving Olson of Blue Grass, IA; along with many other relatives and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Bruce and one foster sister Arlene Lawson.
