Services for Wilford Huebner, 72, Davenport, are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Davenport, where he was a member. Burial is in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.

Visitation is 4:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Harvey Klindt Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o American Legion Post 26 or Iowa American Legion Foundation.

Mr. Huebner died Saturday, Sept. 14, 1996, in Webster City, Iowa.

He was born July 15, 1924, in Ixonia, Wis., the son of Erwin and Minnie Dobbratz Huebner. He married Lucille Erlenbach July 25, 1945, in Washington D.C. She died Nov. 15, 1991. He married Beatrice Lund April 26, 1995, in Davenport.

He was employed as manager of the Mississippi Hotel, Davenport, retiring in August 1996. He had also been employed at the Davenport Hotel and the Blackhawk Hotel. Following his retirement, he was a consultant for the Mississippi Hotel.

He was a World War II Navy veteran.

He was a member of Davenport Chamber of Commerce; past commander of Iowa Department of American Legion; American Legion Post 26, Davenport, of which he was a past commander; CIVITAN; Toast Masters; Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs of Davenport; National Executive Committee, American Legion, where he served as a committeeman; past commander 2nd District, State of Iowa; National Liaison Officer of State of Iowa American Legion; and past national president, National American Legion Press Association.

He also organized and was first chairman of the Miss Davenport Pageant in 1960 and had been an advisor for the pageant for many years. He had attended the Miss America Pageant twice with Davenport entries which had represented Iowa.
He had judged the Miss SUI Pageant at the State University of Iowa in 1961 and the Miss Moline Pageant in 1960.

Survivors include the widow; daughters, Dale Arleen Tetmeyer, Buffalo Grove, Iowa; sons, William E. "Bill" Huebner, Charleston, S.C., David C. Huebner, Manhattan, Kan., and Richard S. Huebner, Pekin; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Lee Fredrick, Watertown, Wis.; and brothers, Harley, Franklin and Erwin Huebner, all of Ixonia, Wis.
