Hawley W. Peterson, 79, of rural Jewell, died Monday morning at the Story City hospital, following a week's illness.

Funeral services are pending at St. Paul's Lutheran church, rural Jewell, with the Soderstrum-Larson Funeral home of Story City officiating.

Hawley W. Peterson is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Beverly Thompson of Ellsworth, Mrs. Marlene Fardal of Des Moines and Mrs. Mary Fisher of Sioux City; four sons, David Peterson of Barrington, Ill., Philip Peterson of rural Jewell; Dale Peterson, also of rural Jewell, and Michael Peterson of Hawarden; 13 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Lillie Nelson of Ellsworth.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Emma, [Emma Marie Sunnoe Peterson] who died April 9, 1976.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church near Jewell.
