Kenneth Dale Voss, 91, passed away January 2, 2023 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Ken, son of Clark and Esther (Caruth) Voss was born November 9, 1931 in Jewell, Iowa. He grew up on the family farm near Goose (Anderson) Lake and resided in Jewell most of his life. He graduated from Jewell High School in 1949.

On March 15, 1952 he was united in marriage to Shirley Parrish in Webster City. He served in the US Army from 1952-1954, including 15 months in Korea.

After honorable discharge, he held various jobs in Jewell, including working at the Ford garage, all four implement dealers and over 30 years at South Hamilton School District as transportation director, bus driver and groundskeeper. His favorite job was farming and driving John Deere tractors from ages 9-88. He served two years on the Jewell City Council and was a member of the American Legion.

Ken was a great storyteller of his youth and enjoyed having coffee with his friends.

His true pride and joy was his family. Left to celebrate his life are his wife of 70 years; daughters Vicki (David) Olthoff and Lori (Nick) Larson; grandchildren Staci, Katie, Bart, Erin and Whitney; and great-grandchildren Adam, Adelyn, Isaac, Ethan, Landon, Edie and Leighton. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1978 and father in 1979.

In honor of his wishes, no service will be planned. A private family burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell at a later date.
