Edna Schutt, 83, was called home to be with her Savior on Thursday, January 6, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 11 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Des Moines, with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.

The youngest of seven sisters, Edna was born to Theodore and Regina Decker on October 18, 1921 in St. Louis, Missouri. Edna was confirmed in her faith in 1935. On June 18, 1947 she married Charles Schutt of Woolstock. She joined Charles on his farm in rural Hamilton county and worked at The Nissen Company until their retirement in Urbandale in 1992.

Edna loved her Lord and remained faithful to Him throughout her life. She was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Edna enjoyed traveling, reading, sewing, needlework and doing puzzles. More than anything, she treasured the time she spent with her family. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy.

Edna is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Schutt, two sons, Robert (Kathi) and Dennis Schutt, seven grandchildren, Michelle (Matthew) Severns, Michael, Todd (Kathy), Bethany, Brandi, Charles and Rebecca Schutt, one great-grandson, Nicholas Schutt, and two sisters, Ellen Bradvogel and Ruth Fish. Edna has been reunited with her parents and husband, Charles, who preceded her in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Olive Lutheran School. Westover Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
