Ruth Elkin, 90, of Webster City, died Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at the Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Asbury United Methodist Church, with Rev. Steve Shelley officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will be prior to the service in the Graceland Cemetery. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.

Ruth Irene Miller, daughter of Ira and Elizabeth (Libby) Peterson Miller, was born April 1, 1914 at Webster City. She attended Webster City schools and also Normal Training. She taught at rural schools in the Webster City area. On July 6, 1941 she married Carl Elkin at Webster City. The couple resided at Eagle Grove, Davenport, Clarion and farmed north of Webster City. While at Davenport, she had taught at an orphanage. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband in many of the farm operations.

Mrs. Elkin is survived by her husband, Carl; daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Thomas Greiner of Ames; son and daughter-in-law, Darle and Carolyn (Carrie) Elkin of Webster City; grandchildren, Shawna Greiner and Mike Marsaglia, Molly Greiner, all of Phoenix, Az.; Gina Elkin of Des Moines; great-grandchildren, Cameron Marsaglia and Leif Greiner; brother, Lyle Miller and sister, Maxine Anderson, both of Webster City; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, Rachel Greiner and brother, Verne Miller.

She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church; served on various church boards; Women's Society; was superintendent of the Sunday School Department; taught Sunday School for many years; was a Youth Leader and past president of P.E.O.-chapter NR.

Memorials may be directed to the Asbury United Methodist Church.
