Alice Crouch Short, 88, of Webster City, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004 at the Southfield Wellness Community. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Fosters Chapel, with Rev. Bill Kem officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be one hour before the memorial service.

Alice Mae House, daughter of Fred and Lydia Nichols House, was born March 21, 1916 at Webster City. She received her education in Webster City schools. On Oct. 2, 1936 she married Walter Guy Crouch at Webster City. The couple resided at Webster City. For several years, she worked at Hart-Carter on the sieve assembly line. She worked at Crestview Senior Living as a cook for 17 years, retiring in 1978. Mr. Crouch died May 19, 1983. On September 22, 1984 she married Gale Gilbert Short at Garner. The couple resided at Webster City. They also resided in Missouri for one year and wintered at Mission, Tx. Mr. Short died January 3, 1995. She continued to reside at Webster City, with her daughters.

Alice is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, William and Dorothy Short of Garner; Dean and Sandy Crouch of Webster City; James and Sally Crouch of Stanhope, daughters, Pat Risetter and LaDonna Wilaby, both of Webster City; 21 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Nellie House of Iowa Falls, Minnie House of Des Moines, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Clarence, Harry, Richard, Fred and Nathaniel House.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, enjoyed playing bingo, trips to Prairie Meadows, her porcelain doll collection, her kitty, Little Bit and spending time with her family.
