Thursday, October 28, 2004Litta Harris, 76, Boone, passed away at the Boone County Hospital on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004.
She was born on Oct. 29, 1927 in Webster City, the daughter of Ernie and Bessie Sanders Burnett.
On Sept. 6, 1946 she married Merle D. Harris at Webster City.
Litta was a graduate of Webster City High School. She was employed as a secretary to the Athletic Director at Iowa State University for a few years. The couple moved to Boone in 1958. In 1965, Litta founded the Christian Nursery School in Boone and was the Director for over 30 years. Litta enjoyed playing bridge with her card club.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, PEO, Jr. Monday Club and was a volunteer with the Boone County Hospital Auxiliary.
Her parents, two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Merle of Boone; one daughter, Patty Semprini of Storm Lake; four sons, Mike (Nancy) Harris of Wassennaar, Netherlands, Terry (Barb) Harris of Oak Park, Ill.; Larry Harris of Aurora, Colo.; Tim Harris of Plattsmouth, Neb.; eight grandchildren, two brothers, Loren (Billye) Burnett of Noble, Okla. and Dean (Jane) Burnett of Dubuque; nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday, Oct. 29 at 1:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Boone with Rev. Phil Webb officiating. Interment will be in Linwood Park Cemetery, Boone. Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday morning from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. when the casket will be taken to the church. Visitations will continue from noon until the service time at the church. The family will be present at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. to greet friends. Memorials may be given to Small Miracles Preschool, 703 Arden Street, Boone, Iowa.
Stark-Welin Funeral Directors in Boone is in charge of arrangements.
